Oracle

For two decades the TIA solution has been characterised by the use of Oracle technology in a multitude of different ways.

Back in 1992, TIA Technology began using Oracle’s technology as the basis for the construction of a new policy administration and claims system. At that time, it was a bold decision. The relational database market was crowded with 23 competing databases. The founders of TIA were faced with a choice; to either hedge their bets by building a system that catered to the lowest common factor across a multitude of database technology or take a bet by going deep with the database that demonstrated its intention to dominate the market. They chose to go deep with Oracle.

By leveraging all available Oracle functionality, the TIA Solution provides insurers with the leading edge solution both from an insurance business point of view and from a technical point of view ensuring read consistency, concurrent backup and batch run, data security, availability, connectivity, etc.

With Oracle as its strategic platform, TIA provides the following benefits:

  • Independence of hardware technology and hardware vendors.
  • Full portability between operating systems, hardware, and network technologies, allowing insurers to take full advantage of cost-effective technologies as they emerge.
  • Truly relational database providing high flexibility for adjustment to future company demands.
  • Support of distributed databases and distributed processing without change of solution code.
  • Ability to “tailor” the TIA Solution to large and small insurers.
  • Easy customization across different countries with good local support structure.

TIA is able to make use of the countless possibilities offered by the range and depth of the tools and database of Oracle to create a streamlined, agile and standardised core insurance solution. For TIA, the benefits of using Oracle technology has allowed it to focus on delivering leading edge insurance solutions whilst resting assured that the underlying technology roadmap is secured.
